the sweet taste of class.

So 36 degree heat graced us with its seemingly OTT presence yesterday and I'm sure that definitely calls for a sweet treat right? as i go to open the freezer what do i find but the cool and classy Connoisseur ice cream tub. Its perfectly simple layout just screams out "i know i look good so i will definitely taste good!"

Other than its obvious use of storing ice cream this definite contemporary design uses a combination of a simple black background combined with minimal text and images which to me says "Less is More." In saying this, it creates a style that generally speaks to an older target market. This design works with just a single scoop of ice cream on the front which coincidently takes shape in the form of a "C". My personal opinion thinks that this draws people in more giving a detailed look on the product being bought. It looks simple, delicate, smooth and creamy; everything you could ever want in a high priced ice cream. I mean it is a gourmet ice cream right?

The use of typography is a simple sans serif font with excellent use of its gold colour atop a black background, making it stand out more. The placement of the type seems to be done with use of a grid pattern placing the first two lines of the title at the top region of the cylindrical tub. There is also clever use of a thick blue strip making mention to the flavour of the ice cream within. ( the colours vary on the different tubs referencing their flavours )

Connoisseur's Cookies and Cream appealed to me as a rich smooth and classy ice cream cleverly depicted through its design. The scoop of ice cream at the front acts as a logo for the brand, catching my eye instantly. If you look at the top corner of the scoop it leads your eye to the name of the product and as you take in the detail of the ice cream making your mouth water, it leads you down the blue strip naming the flavour you obviously pick out just looking at the image and i like that. I even love the tub itself. Its not just any ice cream tub you see that generally come in square tubs, but it comes in a cylinderical shape, kinda cliche and something you'd see in America. The fact that this tub shows a certain simplicity about it gives off a sense of mystery about it, making you want to slowly take the lid off which i might add is done with such ease to reveal the beautiful inside. But really it just screams class and the use of its simple layout and placement of objects in just the right places definitely is what i favour most about this piece.

Until next time =)
xoxo
