hear me talk.

A friend and i decided that we would go for a drive to taree. I just happened to look to my left only to see this poster for Nova 96.9 and it seriously made me laugh!

I mean what other way to grab peoples attention to listen to a radio station than say "Tune in to hear us talk..." with a picture of the hosts underneath.

The style of this design draws people in with the effective slogan at the top of the poster shouting out INTERACTIVE ADVERTISEMENT! Without a definite target market in mind i think this ad is aimed at everyone both drivers and passengers. The humour behind this also draws people in leaving them thinking how am i going to be able to hear them talk and BAM you see the tune into 96.9. If you look at it the first thing that grabs your attention is the image, which your eye is then led to the massive slogan at the top. Your eye then reads from left to right as you normally would giving you the information you need to get all interactive with the ad.

The typography used in this piece seems to be stuck to a grid pattern placed along lines giving a kind of balance to the piece. This pattern is repeated down through to the images below. The bold presence of the first line in the piece grabs your attention effectively and if you can tell the red outline around the text leads you to the NOVA image on the right so at least you know what your listening to. Its very modern/decorative and appears to be a sans serif font. The obvious use of italics leads your eye down through the piece as well as the repetition of white text.

I love this ad. It grabbed my attention leaving me wondering how the hell could this be an interactive ad? how could i hear them talk? then derrr it hit me that it was through the radio station HA and coincidently i was already tuned into them. I liked that it gave people a chance to be apart of the ad by making them think how they could hear them talk. i also like that the fact that not only does the piece make you laugh but so do merrick, rosso and kate richie. pretty cool huh :)

later guys

  1. Must admit, upon the many viewings that i have seen this ad itself i never paid any attention to it until this analysis and now that i have i think this is a great advertisement you found

(and no Ruth, im not only saying this because she is my girlfriend)

The most appealing factor of this design is the entire interactive advertisement concept where interaction is made instantly just by switching to the station.

The symmetrical alignment of all objects too makes it a pleasureable viewing without too much strain, which i believe from a driving point of view is important and will influence the driver to change station.
